Tim Tebow Helps Raise Money for Alabama Charity

Former Florida Gator and current Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow was in Montgomery, Alabama on Friday to speak at a benefit for the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama. “An Evening with Tim Tebow” took place at the Renaissance Montgomery Convention Center. The event was sponsored by Baptist Health. More than 2300 people showed up to hear the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback speak. The sold out event had a ticket price of $100, with VIP tickets available for $400. A meet and greet was available for those buying the $400 tickets.
Tebow has become famous for his public displays of his Christian faith. During his days at the University of Florida he frequently had Bible verses written into his eye black. His fame shot into the stratosphere once he entered the NFL and his sideline prayers become a cultural phenomenon known as Tebowing. It didn’t hurt that he took over a 1-4 Denver Broncos team and led them to the playoffs. He proceeded to defeat the heavily favored Pittsburgh Steelers with a long touchdown pass in overtime.
All of the money earned from the event will benefit the CWFCA. The foundation is a non-profit that was incorporated in 1997. It supports cancer patients in 33 different counties in central Alabama. The foundation spent $5.2 million helping cancer patients in 2011.
