There will be a pair of charity events this weekend in our area. In Saraland there will be a co-ed softball tournament for Michael Ables II on Saturday at Neighborhood Park. The 14 year old student at Saraland Middle School was recently diagnosed with stage 3 Lymphoma. Michael is currently undergoing treatments at USA Womans and Children Medical Center. Concessions will be sold at the event and there will be a car show as well. The fee for softball teams is $150. The event begins at 8:00 AM and will run all day.

11 OZ Custom Mug - Just $2.00!

There is also an event in Atmore tomorrow. The VFW is hosting the Gear Jammers Car Show to benefit the veterans of Atmore. There will be food, as well as music by Dirty Harry. There will also be a blood drive to benefit Thomas Hospital. If you find yourself headed north you should definitely stop by and show some support for our veterans.

There will be plenty of entertainment to cap the day on Saturday night. Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s day, and there will be live bands playing all over town. Fat Lincoln will be live at the Bluegill restaurant from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Plan B will be playing at Burnout’s Bar and Grill from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Don’t forget to wear something green, and be sure to be extra careful on the roads tomorrow night.

Posted by David Merrell On February - 22 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

On March 17 a benefit will be held for Michael Ables II at Neighborhood Park in Saraland. Michael is 14 years old and attends Saraland Middle School. He was recently diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma. The benefit will include a one pitch softball tournament. The entry fee for teams is $150. Other entertainment for the benefit will include pony rides, a car show, and a silent auction. Food will be available as well. For additional info contact Melissa Lollar via Facebook. As a community it is important for us to come together and help those in need. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and this child needs the entire village’s help right now.
