Mother’s Day was established in the US in 1914. Attempts to create a day for mothers date all the way back to the Civil War. Anna Marie Jarvis is credited with establishing the modern holiday. At first it was meant to honor mothers whose sons had died in war, but it has come to honor all mothers in modern times. In 1934, President Franklin D. Roosevelt approved a stamp commemorating the holiday.
So happy Mother’s Day to all the hard working moms out there. Thank you for all that you have done, and all that you will do. A good mother is something sons and daughters should cherish forever.
