Important Dates For The Satsuma School System

Posted by David Merrell On July - 27 - 2012

The Satsuma Schools website has been updated with some important upcoming dates. The school year is quickly approaching, and the final touches are being applied to the new system before school begins. Registration for resident students was recently completed, and now its time for those none residents who have been accepted to register. Their registration date will be on Thursday, August 2, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Resident students who missed the first two registration days can also register on that day.

The next big date on the calendar is August 14. On that day, Satsuma High School will host a Meet the Teachers event from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The event will cover grades 9-12. The Junior High orientation (grades 7 and 8) will be held on Thursday, August 16 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The elementary school Meet the Teachers event will occur on Friday, August 17 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The first day of school will be on August 20. Take in times will be at 7:30 AM. School will be dismissed at 2:55 PM. Though there has been some concern from parents with children at both schools, it appears take in times are the same for the elementary and high school. The high school will be returning to a 7 period schedule and abandoning the block scheduling of the past.

On Thursday, August 23, there will be a community wide pep rally at the Satsuma Track by the football stadium. You can find their public event page on Facebook. The event is meant to celebrate a new beginning for the city of Satsuma as their embark on their first school year. The pep rally begins at 6:00 PM.
