Hit and Run Driver Strikes Infants in Bay Minette

Posted by David Merrell On March - 11 - 2012

A hit and run accident occurred in Bay Minette Saturday night involving two infants. Two mothers were pushing their children across the street in strollers when 30 year old Dewayne Brown struck them and kept driving. One of the children had to be air lifted to USA Medical Center. The other was treated on the scene.

The accident occurred at 506 Moran Street at about 6:30 PM. The two children involved were 18 months old and 23 months old. The 23 month old had to be air lifted. It has been reported that both children will be ok.

Bay Minette police were able to ascertain Brown’s identity because he had four passengers in the car with him. After the accident all of the passengers ditched the car down the road. Brown fled, and the other passengers reported the accident. Anyone with information on Dewayne Brown should contact the Bay Minette Police Department at (251) 580-2559.

**Update** Dewayne Brown was arrested and released on $5,000 bond on Sunday. He was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. This is not the first crime Brown has committed. He has been arrested 16 times since 2000.
