The long awaited iPhone 5 could be announced eight days from now. Apple has invited the press to an event scheduled for September 12 in San Francisco. Apple has confirmed that they will be revealing new products at the event. Other possible products aside from the iPhone could include a new iPod Touch, and a new 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro.
Rumors have been flying for some time about the iPhone 5 and its release date. The phone is expected to be a complete redesign from the iPhone 4 and 4S. The new iPhone is expected to have a 4 inch screen, compared to the 3.5 inch screens on the current generation. The phone is also expected to have 4G LTE capabilities.
One of the drawbacks to the iPhone 5 is the rumored new dock connector. The new connector will be smaller than previous generations, and thus incompatible with accessories iPhone users may have been using for years. The new dock connector was added to improve charge times, and allow space for a bigger battery to hold a longer charge.
The iPhone 5 is not the only Apple rumor that has floated around lately. There have also been talks of an iPad mini, which is a 7 inch iPad similar to the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7. Many thought such a device was coming last year, but Apple instead decided to sell the iPad 2 at a cheaper price.
